If you're covered in the "classics" department, perhaps you'd like something trendy and very "of-the-moment" to infuse your staples with new life. I always recommend never to spend too much on trendy pieces, however, as they sometimes only stick around a season or two. For this fall, I think we'll see lots of '60s and '70s-inspired looks, bold and graphic prints, leather (or faux leather if you prefer), shine and shimmer, lace, polka dots, menswear-inspired looks, and hats of every size, shape, and color. That's a lot to take in, so I suggest to choose your favorite trends and dig in.
My top five favorite pieces to add to any wardrobe are:
1.) A pair of bell bottom jeans to get in on the '70s trend.
2.) A pair of leather or suede shorts, which look great with sweaters and ankle booties.
3.) A pair of polka dot tights.
4.) A pair of oxfords to tie into the menswear trend.
So, Fall is coming, or already here depending on where you live. And with every new season comes the desire to buy the season's new must-haves. But, though I'm sure you've heard it all before, there is never a need to totally revamp your wardrobe if you own these five staples:
1.) A crisp white dress shirt.
2.) A pair of well-fitting jeans in your own style of choice, be it skinny, wide leg, or boot cut.
3.) A black pencil skirt.
4.) A basic trench coat. Long or short.
5.) A pair of black heels. I recommend pumps or loafers/oxfords with a small platform.
It may sound boring, but every girl should have these pieces in her wardrobe as they never, ever go out of style. Chic and timeless is always the way.
While I'm on this British kick, I thought it'd be a good time to take a look at something that inspires me greatly: The Beatles. Now, I know you could argue this is a "girls'" blog and men's fashion has no place here, but I think you'd be wrong. This is a style blog, and anyone with real style can derive it from anywhere, right? Not to mention the fact that not only did The Beatles influence pop music, but they influenced culture in general. Especially clothing. The popularization of the mod style, for men and women, through to the hippie movement, and even the way we think of modern rockers' clothing, can be traced back to The Beatles.
Today I'd like to look at the evolution of The Beatles style. This will just be a basic, and very surface level, evaluation of the way their style evolved over the course of the height of their fame as a group.
